No Super Tuesday Sweep for Romney

by

“Meh” Tuesday

Super Tuesday primaries were expected to widen the gap between GOP candidates Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, Ron Paul, and Rick Santorum, but no clear sweep happened that could place Romney in the seat for a decisive victory.  All eyes were on the results last night to see whether Romney would surge ahead in key states, a marker that might have indicated more widespread support for the former Massachusetts governor.  While he did win in several states, so did Santorum and Gingrich.  No single one of them won the night as a clear standout, so the race for the nomination of the Republican Party continues.  One thing Mitt Romney might take away from this experience is the fact that there’s still work to be done if he means to earn the confidence of the more conservative Republicans, many of whom are evangelical Christians who threw their support yesterday behind the outspoken Catholic candidate Rick Santorum.

Romney Sweeps New Hampshire Primary

by

Last night, Mitt Romney soared to victory in the New Hampshire primary with a double digit lead over his nearest competitor, Ron Paul.  The former Massachusetts governor, who has been repeatedly overlooked by the media throughout the debate season, managed to stride forward with a commanding victory, gaining 39 percent of the vote with 95 percent of precincts reporting.  Early on in the evening as results came in, it was clear that Romney would win by a large margin, and second place GOP hopeful Ron Paul called to congratulate his rival.

Florida GOP Debate

by

Last night the GOP hopefuls for the Republican candidate for presidency met once again in the seventeenth debate to date. It seems like they have been all over from Maryland to Arizona, but alas, they have not. As you very well know, there are four men remaining on the list, and some really came out swinging in last night’s Tampa, Florida NBC and National Journal debate.

Netflix and Politics

by

Netflix CEOBig banks and car companies are not the only ones suffering during these tough economic times in the US. President Obama’s stimulus spending during the early months of his presidency helped bail out more than a few companies deemed “too big to fail,” including banks and US car manufacturers. None of the giants that were bailed out were tech companies, however. One financial analyst’s opinion on the future of Netflix is that things are likely to get worse – a lot worse – before they get any better. Netflix has had a very hard year, losing favor with its customers after a series of hastily announced price hikes and plan changes or cancellations. Lots of people protested by completely closing their accounts, and Netflix reported enormous losses in revenue over the summer of 2011.

The Politics of Organic Gardening

by

President Obama’s administration is all about the Green. Green living supports a healthy planet, and a healthier lifestyle for Americans. But is organic gardening strictly the property of liberal Democrats? Absolutely not. Plenty of Republicans recognize the importance of organic foods, too. When you grow your own organic garden, not only do you get the benefits of being outdoors in the fresh air while planting and tending your vegetables, but you also get tastier foods than can be bought in stores, and the satisfaction of knowing you are doing your part to make the planet a healthier place to live. Organic gardening can also be useful in reducing stress, improving your physical condition, and restoring a restful state of mind. But how do you get started growing your organic garden?

Is Newt Gingrich Romney’s Worst Nightmare?

by

From the beginning, things appear to have gone according to Mitt Romney’s predictions. His analysts didn’t believe that Tim Pawlenty would ever catch up, and were equally confident that Michele Bachmann would fade into the background as the debates wore on. They were ready for Rick Perry when he shot from obscurity to a momentary top spot among the hopefuls. And they never thought Herman Cain would make it through, under the pressure of little experience combined with his overall presidential lack of fortitude.

Herman Cain May Bow Out

by

Herman Cain today announced that he is considering ending his campaign to win the Republican nomination he would need to go up against Barack Obama in 2012 and win the presidential election. The once confident, friendly, and well spoken contender seemed frustrated today after the second week of scandalous allegations against him brought forward yet another woman from his past – this one claiming to have been involved in a long-term affair with the former Godfather’s Pizza CEO. She had procured a lawyer and claims to have cell phone recordings and other evidence to clearly document the affair.
